Shelton Hire / Partnership
The full range of Shelton equipment is
available for hire with or without operator.
This gives our customers access to our
latest models without the expense of buying
new. A popular method of hiring equipment
is through our partnership scheme.
Shelton provides the specialist equipment
and skilled labour and the customer provides
any additional equipment and labour. Working
in this way can reduce costs significantly
over direct contracting, whilst maintaining
quality.
Shelton also hires tractors, all under
three years old, shod on wide turf tyres,
with creep speed gearboxes, ranging from
45hp to 100hp.
Shelton Contracting
Shelton undertake a full contracting service
which includes pipe laying, sand slitting
and gravel banding on any sportsturf amenity.
We are members of the Land Drainage Contractors
Association.
All materials can be supplied including
perforated land drainage pipe and Lytag.
We are the largest supplier of Lytag for
the drainage industry and command a very
competitive price.
If you are considering using Lytag, give
us a call, we may be able to supply it
cheaper than buying it direct from Lytag!
Golf Green Drainage
Shelton specialises in manufacturing machinery
for golf greens drainage. We undertake
this work through our hire and contracting
divisions. The cost of reconstructing
a golf green to USGA specification can
be prohibitive, in the region of £25,000.
Shelton have developed two machines in
their range capable of draining a golf
green with minimal disturbance, at a fraction
of the rebuilding cost. This work causes
minimal disturbance enabling play to resume
almost immediately.
The first of these is the single leg Shelton
gravel band drainer. The machine installs
25mm wide bands of gravel or Lytag at
depths from 100mm to 350mm. Ground conditions
must be moist for the machine to work
effectively, so this work is carried out
during the winter months. Work rates are
in the region of 1½ average sized greens
per day using 2-3 men.
The second machine we use is Shelton System
25™. 25mm wide bands of Lytag or gravel
are installed from 200mm to 450mm deep
using a wheeled trencher coupled to a
vibrating backfilling hopper. Ground conditions
must be dry or slightly moist for this
machine to operate efficiently.
Working on a partnership basis an average
sized green can be drained from as little
as £650.00 + VAT.
