Designed by Shelton as a cost effective way to install a secondary drainage system into a sportsfield with minimal disturbance to the actual playing surface. The bands of gravel, or Lytag®, can be installed up to 300mm deep, 25mm (1'') wide.
This versatile machine's primary use is to drain established golf greens, creating a drainage system that gives a usable playing surface in all but the most extreme weather conditions.
In ideal conditions golf greens can be back in play within hours of installation of the bands.
The single row machine, pictured on this page, is built mainly from stainless steel to assist in the smooth and consistent flow of materials into the drainage channel created.
A hydraulic ram is used to adjust the angle of work when operating on undulating surfaces such as golf greens, and a hydraulically driven vibrator incorporates a variable control to suit different soil types and a different array of backfilling materials, ensuring consistent back-filling.
Power equirement is 45hp with one double acting spool valve.
The Gravel Band Drainer is designed as an aid to efficient golf course turf management.
For larger areas a trailed 3 tonne model is also available.
